Hwashin Hyun Shin, Canada
Hwashin H. Shin is a Research Scientist in the Environmental Health Science and Research Bureau of Health Canada and an adjunct professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Her research areas include statistical model development for environmental health risk, epidemiology, risk assessment and optimal experimental design. She has recently worked on Public health risk estimates, Bias correction in risk estimates attributable to short-term exposure to ambient air pollution, Meta-analysis, and Critical time windows during pregnancy in relation with birth weight and autism in children.
Judy McDonald, Canada
Judy McDonald is an affiliate scientist and part-time human kinetics professor with the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Institute of Population Health at the University of Ottawa. She has enjoyed 15 years of developing an approach, from original work with Olympic athletes, to assess performance excellence through frontline preparedness, specializing in surgical, aviation, policing. Her research program, entitled Operational Readiness Assessments, focuses on high-risk workplaces—where the standards of excellence have serious life and death consequences. She combines her academic foundations with her 25 years of municipal work experience in program evaluation, facility management and public-private partnerships.
